HMD Global (Nokia Mobile) CEO Florian Seiche has announced his resignation. He announced his decision to leave on LinkedIn. It is somewhat surprising that his departure was not announced through company channels.
Typically, such executive departures are planned in advance, so someone takes over the role before it is announced.
HMD provided Nokiamob with an internal statement on Florian Seiche’s departure, stating “Florian Seiche, CEO of HMD Global, has left the HMD business to pursue other opportunities. We would like to thank him for everything he has done for HMD and wish him all the best for the future.” .
Now that Nokia is no longer in the smartphone field, HMD Global has four years to use the Nokia brand, after which it can choose to extend the license or choose to give up the brand.

Florian Seiche posted his departure statement on his LinkedIn account:
I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished at HMD over the past 6 years. It’s time for my next chapter, leaving HMD as CEO.
I would like to say thank you, to all the extremely dedicated and talented HMD employees, to my leadership team, HMD Board of Directors and shareholders. Sincere thanks to all our strategic partners and our strong global customer network. A huge thank you to our consumers and fans for their love, loyalty and insight.
It’s been a wonderful journey. Together we continue to innovate and clearly lead the global feature phone market, including many of the beloved and iconic Nokia ‘Classic’ designs. Our efforts in unique Android smartphones and tablets are focused on realizing our vision of “connecting the world without spending money”.
Our leadership in smartphones in South Africa in 2021, a strong smartphone market position in the UK and US, and success in enterprise and services are also key milestones, all of which are huge in our team Delivered with commitment, creativity and execution.
The recent launch of Circular, our sustainable subscription service designed to reward users for extending the life of their phones with sustainability at the core, shows that we are innovating for our entire smartphone product line. As I embark on the next chapter, I wish HMD all the best for the future.
